Don't have a website, what can I do with FreeIQ?
In this episode of "Ask the FreeIQ Guy" Linda asks:
Question:
I don't have a website of my own yet and am looking at the best way to go about this. Any thoughts would help.
Answer:
You have a number of choices on how you can get involved. Which one you pursue will depend upon where you are with your business and what you like to do most. But regardless of what path you choose, it all starts with becoming a registered Affiliate with FreeIQ.
Step 1. Click the image at the top right of my page to signup for FreeIQ.
Step 2. Then once you have done that, you will want to Upgrade your account to become an affiliate.
Step 3. You will want to edit your author page and setup your affiliate link for your author page. There are some great "how to" tutorials here.
Ok, now that we've gotten that taken care of, here are a number of ways of getting started. Your options are:
1. - Assuming you don't have any of your own content or products:
One of the coolest things about FreeIQ is the ability to use the "Author Page" functionality as your own Virtual Website on FreeIQ.
In a little known "Pro Tip", find great content in the subject area you are interested and add that content into your "Favorites". Once you have done that, you can go into your Author Page, create categories and add whatever "Favorites" to the appropriate category. This allows you to gather and group great information on your Author Page into virtual Subject Area's. The value to your visitor is that YOU have already prescreened and found the best stuff regarding dog training or financial planning, for example. Watch this video example, then continue reading. Don't see the video below? Refresh your page or click here.
Then you can promote your author page as YOUR website. No need to go build one on your own. I'm just skimming the surface here, but you can see the possibilities of using FreeIQ to build your virtual website and use one of many traffic generation strategies to bring people to your author page and categories. You get the referral and a piece of any transaction that happens for a year. Another "Pro Tip". If you want to give the impression of having your own website without FreeIQ.com in the URL, simply register the domain you want at a service like godaddy.com and "forward" it to your author page. Then you can put your real Domain name on any promotional material, online ads, press releases, articles, etc.
2. - The other option without a website is this:
Find great Free or Paid Content on FreeIQ. Setup your affiliate links to that specific content. (tutorial here)
Once done, you can setup Google Adwords Ads that go directly to that content you wish to promote. (just make sure they go through your affiliate link so you get credit for the referral.)
This has two advantages.
1. If someone buys right away, you make a commission. (between 25-45% of what they spend)
2. Even if they don't buy right away, you get credit for the referral and earn a commission on anything they buy or sell for an entire year.
Caution: To get this right, you will need some solid skills with Google Adwords. You will need to watch your ads, the amount you spend and the number of sales generated VERY closely. Set a daily budget and DO NOT go away on vacation and let a campaign run without watching it. That's been known to empty a bank account or two for the unsuspecting.
Lastly, if you DO have something to teach and have already created products, you can pretty much follow the recommendations above. Just substitute YOUR stuff instead of the recommendation to "find other peoples great content".
Make sense? Let me know by posting a comment here. Your thoughts are Greatly appreciated.
