How many pages can I create?
Through the Ask the Free IQ Guy part of this site, I got the following question:
Question:
"Hi ,Thank you for the blog a great idea! Very helpful
I have two main areas of knowledge..can i set up two pages as an expert /
Are there limits to the number of pages for one person ?
Thank you…….ian"
Answer:
Ian, Thanks for your question. A few points first. There is no limit to the number of video's, audio's and PDF documents you can upload. Each upload will have it's own page. If you are referring to the Author Page which can be looked at as your virtual FreeIQ website, then each User ID or account has ONE.
There are two different ways you can go about handling your two separate area's of knowledge.
Option 1:
Simply create two separate FreeIQ user names / profiles and keep them totally separate under two different login names. You would simply need to signup twice and upgrade your account twice to make sure that both profiles were full members set up as FreeIQ affiliates. From there you can operate in two knowledge area's and not combine the two.
Pros: If you truly don't want your customers of one specialty to know that you are playing in a different area of expertise, then this could be the right way to go. There is no reason you can't have more than one user id in FreeIQ. This will also allow your stats and affiliates for each area of expertise to be separated.
Cons: By having two separate ID's people who like your content won't easily be able to view your other content in the other area. No way to cross sell through the use of your author page. Likewise when someone clicks on your "Show all content from this author", they won't see your other stuff. Again, this could be good or bad depending on what you want your visitors to see.
So the truth is, that it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish whether this would be the best way to go.
Option 2:
Creat content for both area's of expertise under the same user id and use the Author Page categories and tags to group the content for your visitors. Essentially using the Author Page as your main website and the categories to group your content onto separate pages.
Here is an example:
When you post a video, it is shown on it's own page. However, it will also show the author and a link to "Show all of USER's content". See the green arrow pointing to the link to view all of Shawn's Content below on his page for How to Choose a Market and Start Your Internet Business.

By clicking that link, you arrive at the persons Author Page. (see image below) If you look at Shawn's author page, he has categories down the left hand side that he's created to group his content. This essentially turns his Author page into a virtual website with an opt-in box and grouped categories of all of his content. When you click these category links, the content to the right changes to display the video's, audio's or documents he has uploaded into that specific category. Pretty cool huh?

Pro's: With this approach, it's all tied into his user ID and allows people who liked some of his content to easily go to Shawns Author Page (virtual FreeIQ Website) and then find all of his other content.
Cons: If you are in totally separate area's of expertise and don't want a customer from one area, to know that you are even in the other area, this wouldn't work. Plus you won't be able to track stats per knowledge area by having just one ID. And if you want to create two separate mailing lists for people who enter their name and email address. You cannot segment your list with just one profile or user ID using the built in Opt-in functionality.
To wrap it up, if you really want two completely separate identities on FreeIQ with NO sharing between them, create two accounts. But if there is a potential to cross sell, or cross market to the same visitor, use one account and group your content with the categories in the Author page.
Hope this helps! And let me know what you think. Please leave a comment at the bottom of this page.
And please keep the questions coming gang! I'll be visiting the FreeIQ office on Tuesday the 24th of April, so I will definitely have lots of inside information and access to the FreeIQ team to get your questions answered. One quick update. When I was visiting their office, Barry Trottier the Chief Technology officer of FreeIQ just showed me yesterday how you can have ONE account with multiple Author Pages.
So in essence, you can keep two somewhat separate Author Pages (your personal FreeIQ Website/landing page) and get the benefit of two separate opt in's and public persona's. Again, you could have two separate login's, but you may want to play around with this BRAND NEW feature just put into the live system yesterday.
